Situational and Trait Self-Handicapping among Grandiose and Vulnerable Narcissist

Self-handicapping is an effective strategy for self-enhancement and self-protection in situations which one’s self-image evaluated. Previous studies have shown that grandiose narcissists use self-handicapping self-enhancement, while research on vulnerable narcissists’ of still scarce. In this study, we examined trait, behavioural, proclaimed among the two forms narcissism. After questionnaire measures were collected, a total 105 individuals participated experimental they led to believe would be doing hard or easy ability test. The results showed narcissism was only related trait achievement situations, interpersonal situations. Experimental participants did not seize opportunity behavioural self-handicapping. Moreover, these strategies are here discussed context maintenance dynamics with different levels as well methodological aspects validity concept
